    1. That’s right. Because Wimbledon doesn’t do tiebreakers in the fifth set, it took up over 11 hours of playing time, and the fifth set alone was longer than the previous record.

      The scoreboard had to be reprogrammed because it wouldn’t go past 47-47. Isner lost his next match the following day in 74 minutes, the shortest match of the tournament. Serena Williams won the ladies tournament, and won all her matches in less time than this one match.

    1. Never cared much for tennis, but this fact was far too interesting not to turn into a question.
