Interesting Question of the Day – 12 October 2014

Could you fit all the other planets in the solar system between the Earth and the Moon?

We’re talking the average distance between the Earth and the Moon and the average diameters of the planets, and we’re not asking if this would kill everyone on Earth, which it would.

  1. Yes you could, with about 8000km to spare.

If you lined them up along their equators, however, there wouldn’t be room, because the planets tend to bulge around their equators.
