  1. I don’t think it technically specifies how many came. I do know of at least 4 names that legend states appeared. (from some traditional stories).

    Also don’t think they appeared on the actual night. It was days afterwards at least before they came to see the babe.

    And don’t even start me on the correct time of year this story was supposed to have occurred in. Thank you Council of Nicea…

    1. Balthasar, Melchoir and Jaspar are the names of the traditional ‘3 Wise Men). But there is also Eleazer who is mentioned.

      And in a side note there is never any reference to them being Kings in the bible. Only wise men…

      I could keep going but I’ve realised I clearly know far too much about Christian lore and should stop now..

    2. Yep. It doesn’t actually say.

      It’s often assumed to be three because there are three gifts and a heap of cultural references to the idea of Three Kings, but it just says wise men from the east.

      Which means it’s at least two. It could have been twenty. It could have been 500.
