Who is supposed to have said it, what was he talking about, and was it a real quote or something devised for an ad campaign?

  1. The quote was supposedly attributed to Dom Perignon, the priest who “invented” Champagne. But as he spent the majority of his time trying to REMOVE the bubbles, I would suggest the quote was part of an advertising campaign.

    1. It was attributed to Dom Pierre Perignon, but it’s exceedingly unlikely to be real.

  2. I’ll think of his name in a moment… but it’s that Benedictine monk who invented champagne…

    So talking about champagne…

And pretty sure it’s an ad that’s now made it into legend..

  3. The monk, Dom Pérignon, about champagne and it was devised for a 19th century ad campaign.
