Why? Desperation. In a vile, tragic, pathetic indictment on the type of society we are becoming.
There but for the grace of god go any of us. Why do we put up with the commodification of health care and the denial of services to our most vulnerable?
Is that too obtuse an answer?
Well that’s actually pretty close to the correct answer.
And at any rate, an essay of such sophistication would certainly warrant a point on one of our quizzes.
